BYLAWS
OF
IRVING COLLEGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION
ARTICLE I: NAME OF ORGANIZATION
The name of the organization is the Irving College Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
The Purpose of this organization shall be:
To promote communication and cooperation between parents, teachers and students.
To assist in obtaining needed educational and recreational equipment and materials.
To work with the school staff to promote academic and social growth of students.
To support the philosophy of Irving College Elementary School.
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
There shall be no cost for membership in the Irving College Parent Teacher Organization.
Any parent or guardian who has a child, or children, in attendance at Irving College Elementary School may be a member of the Irving College Parent Teacher Organization.
Any member of the Irving College Elementary School staff may be a member of the Irving College Parent Teacher Organization.
Anyone with an interest in promoting the academic and extra curricular programs of the school may become a member of the Irving College Parent Teacher Organization.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS
Any member of the Irving College Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization may be elected as an officer in the Organization.
Officers shall be elected at the first meeting in the fall each year by the majority of the members present and voting.
The officers of this organization shall consist of:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
The duties of the officers shall be:
President- To preside at all meetings and to coordinate work of officers and committees.
Vice President- To assist the President and to perform the duties of the President in his or her absence.
Secretary- To keep an accurate record of all monthly and called meetings of the organization.
Treasurer- To receive and deposit all funds of the organization and to keep an accurate record of all financial transactions.
ARTICLE V: MEETINGS
The meetings of the Irving College Parent Teacher Organization will be held monthly unless otherwise stated. Notice of upcoming meetings will be given at each meeting of the organization. Notice will also be given at least five days prior to the meeting.
ARTICLE VI: COMMITTEES
The President shall appoint committees composed of volunteers and appointees from the general membership.
ARTICLE VII: AMENDMENTS
These bylaws may be amended at any general meeting of the organization by a majority of votes of the members present and voting provided that notice of the changes have been presented to and reviewed by the President of the organization prior to the meeting.
